Let me introduce myself to you, Immanuel! I am Pastor Keith E. Grill. I have been assigned by the Southwest Pennsylvania Synod of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America to be your Interim Pastor. That means that I fulfill the role as your Pastor and work with you for the building up of the Church until you call a pastor to serve you.

I have been retired for ten years, and during that time have served the Church as a Mission Builder in the summer for three years in different locations. I have also served as an Interim Pastor in the Pittsburgh area for one year. My wife, Pastor Janet Grill, continues the serve as an active Pastor of St. Andrew in the Shadyside section of Pittsburgh.

These times are challenging and interesting for Immanuel and for the ELCA. These times are especially challenging for small congregations. I will work with you to face those realities as well as encourage you with a mutual vision for the future. You have a Call Committee that will be working with Pastor Sarah, assistant to the Bishop, to look at your future mission and pastoral leadership.

I have an interest in contining your emphasis on a Eucharist-centered and liturgically-inspired worship life. I also have a desire to support you in a historically-grounded Swedish heritage. As a Dane, I appreciate our common Scandinavian ethinic background.

I also am passionate and supportive of the ELCA's relating to the always-changing society in which we live and serve. There are opportunities for a Christ-centered welcoming and outreaching congragation on the religious scene today. May the Lord bless us on our journey together.

In Christ,
Pr. Keith E. Grill

The Giant Eagle cards are available before or after Sunday services. See Bonnie Stecik if you wish to purchase any cards. This has been a successful fund raiser for our church. These cards can be used to buy other merchants cards, prescriptions and postage stamps. The big plus is that you will receive fuel perks for your gas purchases and the Church receives 5% of every one dollar spent!!!

Keep those pennies rolling into Immanuel.

St. Andrews Lutheran Church in Shadyside collects paper to be recycled. If you are not recycling paper and would be interested in doing so, place papers in the box labeled "Recycled Materials". Pastor Grill has volunteered to take this paper to St. Andrews. You can recycle all kinds of paper, including newspapers and magazines. Please do not put cardboard in the box.

A call committee has been elected by the council. The committee has completed the paper work required by the Synod and has met with Pastor Sarah to go forward with the process.

The Narthex roof is still leaking and needs to be fixed before we can remodel the area.
